The Spanish Data Protection Authority (AEPD) on 16 September 2021 imposed a fine of €4,000 on the company Frigorifica Botánica sl. The company had installed, without legal basis, a video and audio recording system in employee areas such as the changing room, toilet, and dining room. The authority highlights in the decision that such installation violates the principle of data minimisation set out in Article 5 (1)(c) of the GDPR.
