Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau published his letter addressed to the head of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Development, François-Philippe Champagne, on 16 December 2021. The Prime Minister instructed the Minister to set up a task force on digital policy and to prepare legislation to help strengthen the protection of consumer privacy online. The minister was also tasked with adapting protection against cyber threats to new challenges. The Prime Minister also asked the Minister to support the development of Canada’s artificial intelligence strategy.
