The Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) launches investigation concerning Apple

The President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection announced the authority’s actions taken in connection with the change in privacy policy and personal data processing rules for Apple devices. The manufacturer has significantly reduced the possibility of obtaining personal data in order to send personalised advertisements in mobile applications. However, the OCC doubts that the privacy changes are not actually intended to promote Apple’s own Search Ads service. This could potentially violate the principle of competition. The OCC wants to see whether Apple’s actions may adversely affect the ability of others to present ads.
