Unauthorised access to personal data of customers of Linical Co., Ltd.

The Japanese company on December 6 confirmed that the personal data of about 98,000 of its customers had been breached. An unauthorised person exploited a VPN tunnel vulnerability and gained access to the company’s servers. The leak included names, addresses, phone numbers, information submitted by people interested in job opportunities and salary information.

Linical said it had patched the vulnerabilities and had them further verified by external experts. The company has reported the breach to the relevant authorities not only in Japan, but also in other countries, including EU countries and Taiwan. This is because the data breach was international in nature as Linical operates globally.
