The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has fined UK Direct Business Solutions Limited for 410,369 unsolicited marketing calls. Caller data was obtained from the Corporate Telephone Preference Service (CTPS) and the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). The ICO received a number of complaints in relation to the unwanted calls. UK Direct Business Solutions was unable to provide evidence that it checked the data it obtained from the records.
The ICO found that UK Direct Business Solutions’ use of a public electronic communications service to make unsolicited marketing calls to numbers registered with the CTPS and TPS breached their owners’ rights. As a result, the ICO imposed an administrative monetary penalty on UK Direct Business Solutions.
