Privacy guidelines for Israeli students and schoolchildren

The Israel Law, Information and Technology Authority has published a guide on student privacy in educational institutions. It aims to define the challenges and threats to student privacy in schools and kindergartens. The authority has reviewed the statutory requirements for database owners, as well as recommendations on the protection of pupil privacy, such as the duties imposed on the head of an educational establishment in terms of privacy protection. In this context, the authority paid particular attention to distance learning. According to the guidance, educational institutions should refrain from using new technologies to monitor students before obtaining approval from the Ministry of Education.
