European Commission investigating Platform X’s compliance with the DSA

The European Commission has formally issued an enquiry to Platform X, formerly known as Twitter, regarding its compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA). Having achieved Very Large Online Platform (VLOP) status according to the DSA, X must comply with its rules, including in terms of assessing and minimising the risks associated with the dissemination of illegal content or misinformation.
The Commission is investigating X’s compliance with the DSA, including policies and actions regarding reports of illegal content, complaint handling, risk assessment and measures to minimise identified risks.

Depending on X’s response, the Commission will decide on further steps that may lead to the formal initiation of proceedings under Article 66 of the DSA. X’s inadequate response to the enquiry may result in a financial penalty.
